‘Illness To Wellness’ collaborates with ILBS to end discrimination against Hepatitis B patient, spread awareness.
In a bid to combat discrimination against Hepatitis B patients and raise awareness about the disease, the ‘Illness to Wellness’ initiative has partnered with the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS).
Through the ‘Winning Over Mothers With Hepatitis B’ (WOMB) initiative, the duo aims at removing misconceptions, helping reintegrate the affected mothers into society. The initiative seeks to eliminate stigma and establish a patient network, highlighting the critical importance of vaccinations in controlling Hepatitis B.
During an awareness session, Dr Shiv K Sarin, Director & Chancellor, ILBS, and Dr Arti Ahuja, Ex-Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India, expressed concerns over the discrimination faced by Hepatitis B patients.
Anil Rajput, Chairperson, ASSOCHAM National CSR Council, lauded the initiative’s role in raising awareness about vertical transmission from mother to child and eliminating stigma towards affected mothers. Launched in December 2022, the WOMB initiative aims to end stigma and discrimination while creating a supportive patient network.
The partnership between Illness to Wellness and EMPATHY seeks to sensitize people about Hepatitis B and C, disseminating crucial information for disease control and communicating the importance of good health to the general public.
