He has more than 560 publications to his credit, edited 13 books on liver diseases and contributed\u00a0 85 chapters in various medical text books.\u00a0 He has helped develop 18 major guidelines; including six major Asian Pacific Treatment Guidelines in Liver diseases. He is credited with several new treatment protocols for liver diseases, specially variceal bleeding, liver regeneration, hepatitis B and acute-on-chronic liver failure.\u00a0\u00a0Prof. Sarin has shown leadership roles in being the President of the Indian Society of Gastroenterology, Indian Association for the Study of the Liver, Asian Pacific Association of Liver (APASL), and Chairman Steering Committee of the APASL. He has been awarded the prestigious <strong>Henry L. Bockus Medal -2017<\/strong> by World Gastroenterology Organization. He has been bestowed with <strong>Padma Bhushan<\/strong> by the Govt of India. He is also arecipient of\u00a0Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award, The World Academy of Medical Sciences (TWAS)\u00a0International Prize,\u00a0EASL International Recognition Award,\u00a0\u00a0OmPrakashBhasin Award, Dhanvantri Medical Award,\u00a0 Ranbaxy Medical Sciences Award,\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong> and the \u2018Best Teacher\u2019 Award, besides being a founding\u00a0 <strong><em>Editor<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0<strong><em>Hepatology International.<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0He developed with other Board of Governors the\u00a0<strong>\u2018Vision 2015\u2019<\/strong>\u00a0document for Medical Education in India during his tenure as Chairman of Medical Council of India.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Prof Shiv Kumar Sarin is the Senior Professor,\u00a0Hepatology and Director, Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, New Delhi.He was instrumental in setting up the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, under the auspices of the Govt of Delhi.
